♡♡♡ I never really liked the smell of lavender.......Until I met mine...my own Lavender spray mist...Now I am in love with it ! ♡♡♡
And I think that may have been because most of it I was smelling was a chemical fragrance (not good) and not the real thing Lavender Essential Oil !
The cost of Lavender Essential Oil can run very high especially Lavandula angustifolia / English Lavender usually called “True Lavender”...All Lavandula species are real lavenders...Many Lavender E.O's you buy are a mix of a few different lavenders and are heavenly and the best quality also...
...These two compounds linalool and linalyl acetate are the two primary aroma compounds that occur in Lavender. There are some 38 species of lavender that are highly valued and used all over the world...Lavandula angustifolia is the most wanted...Lavender 40/42 is a wonderful blend of a few beautiful lavenders...

♡ A French scientist~chemist and scholar Rene Gatefosse was the first to discover Lavender's ability to promote tissue regeneration... when he severely burned his arm in a laboratory accident in an experiment in a perfumery plant...He treated it with lavender essential oil and it seemed that oil helped heal and seemed to leave less scarring !
This is his account of what happened:
“The external application of small quantities of essences rapidly stops the spread of gangrenous sores. In my personal experience, after a laboratory explosion covered me with burning substances which I extinguished by rolling on a grassy lawn, both my hands were covered with a rapidly developing gas gangrene. Just one rinse with lavender essence stopped “the gasification of the tissue”. This treatment was followed by profuse sweating, and healing began the next day (July 1910).”
("Gas gangrene is a potentially fatal infection, and was the cause of many amputations and deaths in the First World War.") and this led to treating soldiers with lavender and other essential oils on their wounds...
(Gattefossé R-M, Tisserand RB (ed.) 1993 Gattefossé’s aromatherapy: the first book on aromatherapy. CW Daniel, Saffron Walden, p 87 )
And that is what interested him in finding out more about essential oils ! . Upon application, he was amazed to find that his burn pain disappeared almost instantly, and eventually healed with no scar! Lavender is a wonderfully regenerative and soothing oil, suitable for both skin care and aromatherapy. It is calming and relaxing for both the mind and skin, and is great to use for children who have a hard time falling asleep.
