Many of natures gifts that are right there at our finger tips are over looked and not appreciated.
When using clays for your face/skin make sure it is a cosmetic grade clay.Clays differ in how much they absorb from the skin !
Make sure you choose the right kind of clay mask for your skin type...When you use healthy skincare you will see a difference in your skin you will come to love.
OK so what kinds of clay masks are there and what are thy good for ?
Green Clay--
Is an illite clay--highly efficient at cleansing oils from the skin-especially great when used on oily skin/hair -draws impurities like a magnet-used to help control acne-helps to tighten
pores-purifies/detoxify skin-tones skin--...It also is sometimes used for stings & insect bites-sprains-achy sore muscles arthritis, cuts & bruises etc... In the beauty world we love it as a face mask !
Bentonite Clay--
Bentonite clay is a combination of montmorillonite and volcanic ash--it’s a “healing clay”--highly absorbent clay--helps get oxygen to cells--known for its ability to absorb and remove toxins,impurities,chemicals and heavy metals--produces an “electrical charge” when hydrated--best suited for oily skin--helps rid the body of toxins--external detoxification--good bentonite clay is a grey/cream color--a high concentration of minerals including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron and potassium...I find it very interesting that they say it is calming to skin itching from eczema, psoriasis, chicken pox !
Kaolin Clay (white)--
Is the mildest of all clays--does not draw oils from the skin (it removes the impurities from the skin gently without stripping the skin of it's natural oils)--great for sensitive skin & maturing skin--treat conditions like eczema--disinfectant properties--helps stimulate circulation to the skin --can help heal existing blemishes--It gently exfoliates and cleanses--has been used to heal minor scratches, itching, small insect bites and mild burns,soothes irritated skin very quickly--absorbent--can be used on dry skin--kaolinite--softens dry skin very effectively--used in many skincare/cosmetic products--when used on the scalp/hair Kaolin hair masks/packs help improve the circulation in the scalp & removes the yuck and dirt and helps to strengthen the hairs roots gently.--also known as china clay--calming to the skin--effective against acne without overdrying--safe for pregnant women to use--Kaolin poultices are also used for boils and inflammation--Also used for treating inflammation in dogs and horses....Kaolin Clays come in different colors ...
Pink Clay (Rose Clay)--
Is a mild clay that can be used on normal to dry skin to gently cleanse and exfoliate the skin / it actually works on most skin types--it does not strip the skin of its natural oils.--mild exfoliating--a mild Kaolin Clay--helps to detoxify the skin/draws out toxins-- helps to reduce inflammation--cleans and purifies the skin-- draws impurities from pores--gentle enough for very dry skin--It gets its colors from iron oxides--If you make some DIY bath products it hardens things like bath fizzies
Rhassoul Clay--
